Cleaning Satin Nickel hardware

Sign in to disble this ad
My band is getting back together for the big reunion gigs and now I am in the process of making my bass looking nice and shiny. My question is, my tuners, control knobs, and bridge all have a Satin Nickel finish on them. Through me being lazy and not wiping them off after playing, they have gotten dirty. Looks like from sweat most likely. How do I clean these off? I tried CLR and that didn't really work. Any suggestions? Thanks alot for the time.

CLR is for Calcium, Lime, and Rust. So unless you've been making coffee in your bass or using it as a shower head, that stuff isn't good. It isn't a general purpose cleaner. You might try simple Windex for cutting some of the crud off. That will get the organic stuff. Naptha will do a good job of stuff that isn't DNA based. If the layers are thick, you could even boil the pieces in water with a little vinegar to break it up.
