Question Clearance issue for my MIJ Squier P

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently bought a used Squier MIJ Precision and bought a brand new Gotoh 201 bridge and p-bass pup cover (below is my new bass with old hardware)

Now a close-up of the new bridge and cover (In the pic it looks the cover is not centred, but it's just the angle of the camera...I think)

Anyways, after installing the new bridge and cover, it doesn't seem to allow for much space for the strings.

Since I am getting it professionally set-up (along with an entire fretwork makeover), I'm assuming the guy can just adjust the action to suit, right? Looking at the "factory" settings of my new bridge, the string saddles are generally pretty high and kinda all over the place. I've read that other TBers didn't like the Gotoh bridge due to the extra height. I won't be adding the bridge cover so no issues there....

What do you all think? Should I be worried that this stuff won't work....

It'll work fine. There isn't much clearance, but you don't need much. Why don't you string it up and see?

Attention! Attention! KissmybASS01 is an idiot! I thought I had chucked the old strings that came with it, and I didn't want to open the new strings I bought for it.

Actually I'm getting a lot of buzzing, so it looks like the action may be too low.
