 Coil tap on a Jazz Bass???

"you can do coil tapping on a Jazz Bass pup? WHOA. I thought they were just single coiled, but reverse wound with reverse polarity, so they cancel hum...
Or am i thinking of the wrong thing, and your talking about switching from paralell to series... okay, now i'm all confused. Get back to me"
alright, I'm all confused. If you CAN indeed do this on a Jazz... that still has it's factory pickups in it... can someone show me a wiring diagram? I've been reading up on electronics, but I'm still a beginner when it comes to all the different wiring posibilities... someone help me out.
