Color block inlays?

Sign in to disble this ad
What would be the easiest way to color the block inlays on an SX SJB 75? They're white, but I would really prefer black. I did the electrical tape thing, just to see if I'd prefer the black over the white, and I do. But they don't line up that well, and I know they'd start to move eventually. I'd prefer to not take the finish to the bare wood, as I'm not very skilled at refinishing a neck. I don't want to trade my SX or buy another, though if Rondo or someone here sold or traded a replacement neck with the black inlays, I'd buy/trade one and that'd be it.

So what are your suggestions? Paint? Magic marker? Something I'm missing?

It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd prefer it not look like crap. Pics would be a plus as well.

Or maybe someone has an extra SJB 75 neck with black inlays lying around they'd like to sell or trade? Eh? Eh?

I would look for a trade first.

If you couldnt find one, I would look for a really good tech/luthier near by who has a dremel atleast. You will not get a solid black color if you do not do this properly, and I feel that you would be very dissappointed with the results if you couldnt get something good out of this.

Could always learn to like white

Did magic marker and clear tape. You'd never know. Looks great in my opinion. You'd never know from 2 feet away.
