Without going into any boring details, I'm looking to build my own guitar. Not a bass, but a six string. However, I want it to have the body of a Rickenbacker 4001. If I were to find a body for it, or even one of the ric ripoffs (like the old Ibanez or the Shine), would this feat even be possible, or even plausable? I know I may have trouble finding a neck for it that would scale to a standard six string, but I'm sure I could find a way around that. Any advice would really be helpful.

Hahaha. That's about the response I would imagine getting here.

I think we were all thinking that. Any particular reason you didn't post in 'Luthier's Forum'?

Certainly wouldn't want to disappoint.

How 'bout a Warmoth body blank and paddle-head neck ???

Oh, I must have missed that one. If there's a mod around that can move my topic, that'd be fine.

The Warmoth idea sounds pretty good and it shouldn't be too hard to find some sort of guideline to make a close-to replica. Plus it may be a little easier... and definetly cheaper than finding a knock off (and there's no way I would want to risk ruining a legit Rickenbacker). So far, best suggestion.
