Control knob come loose.

Sign in to disble this ad
Well as the title says one of my control knobs is really loose, Its the bass knob. I opened up the control plate and the silver thing that says bass on it is loose too and it can be turn all the way around when the other 3 are stuck in place. So obviously that the problem.

So i are they glued down these things, or can i tighten it up? or is it something i should take in to get fixed? its actaully unuseable cause its so loose and it used to have a notch in the middle now it just turns.

sorry about bad info, haven't really delt with electronics stuff before. Heres a photo, its bad qaulity but it night and i cant get good lighting.

+1... and that nut is on the opposite side of what's shown in the photo... where the shaft exits the control panel face.

The nut is a thin one, so you have to be careful in tightening it.

When you tighten the nut, DO NOT use pliers or anything that can slip and gouge the finish. Use a nut driver (look it up online) or 6-point socket and be very careful not to damage the finish. Once you get it snug (don't kill it), you can drop a single drop of clear nail polish on the pot stem threads to keep the nut from loosening again.

Also, when tightening the nut, don't let the pot rotate or you may break wires that are soldered to it.
