Convert Jazz pickup to P on a 5'er?

I really want a P 5-string - or, ideally, a passive PJ. I haven't been having any luck finding a used one (at least, in the under-$1500 category - I can't afford a Sadowsky or Lull).

I looked at doing a Warmoth build, but they won't do a 5-string split-coil pickup rout, which rules out buying a finished body from them.

It occured to me today to possibly do this much more simply. I'm thinking of finding a US made Peavey Milestone 5-string (assuming such a thing exists - if not something on the same lines) and getting the neck pickup re-routed for a P pickup. Then drop in good P and J pickups, wired VVT, put on a suitable pickguard to cover any gaps around the P pickup, and... rock it! I know there is a Milestone 5 which has 2 J pickups. I just don't know if any of those are/were ever made in the USA.

Does anybody see any problem with this plan? I've never done anything remotely like this before.

Well, now. How come nobody mentioned the BB415 in my other thread about P5 options??

Does the 415 give the same P growl than a Fender Am Std P does?
