Converting top jack to side jack?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am purchasing a Squier Bronco and I want to convert it to a side jack so I can fit a selector switch. I am purchasing a jackplate, but that's it. I am just wondering, for converting, is it as simple as drilling a hole large enough to fit the jack, far enough to connect to the routing, and then screwing it in?

Not much more to it than that. Just make sure it lines up with the cavity.

I think I'm going to take it to my local music shop, I'm not the best with a drill.

EDIT: One thing, the place I'm putting it is at a mildy curved angle, and my jack plate is a rectangle. What should I do? (Should I bend it [pretty large bend] or should I buy a circular jack plate?)

EDIT: Or I could purchase an endpin jack and mount it where the regular jack is going to be.

EDIT: Screw the fancy stuff, I'll just buy a circle and rectangle and hope one of them fits.

I just get the oval jackplate and give it a slight curve if it needs it to fit. The screws will sort of pull it down anyway. Always has worked for me.
