Does anyone have any experience with nuts made of Corian. Carvin offers nuts in this material but there is no feedback on it.
Thanks

I make my custom nuts out of corian. Its harder than most nut materials out there (except maybe bone and definitely softer than brass) but its easy to work with and it holds up really well. I like it.

Yes, but its been long time since Ive heard the term or known of basses that come with those. They are excellent nuts. Been more then a decade since I had a bass with one.

Great material. It is hard and dense. Polishes to a high luster. Makes a great acoustic guitar saddle.

Does not work well for a Fender style nut. When the material is thinned to the proper dimension it is very easy to break.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks, I got the answer I needed. I build basses & usually cut the nut to a heavy 3/16". The material is easy to come by and comes in black as well as a bone color. For the builders out there, I pick it up free as remnants from counter top fabricators.
