Correct Tuners For MIA Jazz Plus V

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a used MIA Fender Jazz Plus V which has all 5 tuners on one side. It came with Schaller tuners which I'm pretty sure are the wrong ones. The 'B' tuner has a corner shaved off (hack job) so it won't extend beyond the edge of the wood. The tuner holes are 17 mm (11/16") but I'm wondering if they were originally 14 mm. The hole spacing is approximately 40 mm. One of the reasons I want to get change back to the original tuners is because the 'B' and the 'E' keys can touch if they're both lined up just right. Another reason I'd like to swich them is because the bass has a little bit of neck dive.

Does anyone know which tuners came with this bass originally? I'm thinking about the Hipshot ultralites to take care of the neck dive but I don't know if they can be used in the 17 mm holes. Also I noticed that the hipshot clover keys are nearlly 40 mm across so I'm concerned that they'll hit each other too.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Owen
