Cort Curbow 5 issues!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I am hoping someone here can shed some light on what might be causing issues with my Cort Curbow 5-string.

I bought this bass used from a good friend who never really played it. After a few practices the sound would all of the sudden fade out almost like the battery was dying, or often cut out completely, sometimes accompanied by a hissing type static noise as well. Of course the battery is fine, and afte replacing good batteries with good batteries and becoming frustrated with an unreliable guitar I took it in for repair.

The music store replaced the input jack/electronics and gave it back...same issue the very next practice. I took it back and they contacted Cort who advised it was likely the preamp. Cort replaced the preamp free of charge and all seemed well for about three practices, then the issue returned with the same exact symptoms. I can remedy it temporary by unplugging and replugging the cord, but this of course isn't a solution during a gig. The music store says the last thing they can replace is the pickup, but I'm not convinced this is the problem, although I have to agree that there isn't much of the electronics left to be replaced...does anyone have any suggestions?
