Cracked Neck Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I rec'd this SX bass neck and it's cracked right above the truss rod. Do you think this is repairable?

Thanks for your help

All things are fixable. The problems are cost and feasibility. Spread it, inject a batch of epoxy, clamp, smooth, and refinish.

BTW... Surgical tubing makes great clamping wrap for cracks like this one. I learned this fixing firearms.

Thanks the tips DRoot. Looks like a perfect starter project for me as I am new to playing the bass. Much appreciated.

Just be sure you don't immobilize the trussrod with the epoxy.

The other thing I am concerned about now is I noticed the truss rod is sticking out beyond the truss rod opening. I've compared this to a couple other necks and those truss rods are not visible until I look straight down into the opening. Does that make sense?
The only good thing so far is that shipping was insured and I got my money back for the shipping and neck.
