Cracking/Popping Sound from Jack?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Mates,

I have a mid 1970's Univox PBass. Recently whenever the cable connector is in the jack and there is the slightest amount of movement (perhaps a tugging on the cable) I hear a loud cracking sound. There doesn't appear to anything physically wrong with the jack but maybe it is just old (it may be original). It is not the cables. They are new from Bayou and I tried them with different instruments to make sure they are in working order.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks,

Dan

Sounds like a dodgy connection. Try plugging a lead in when the bass is opened up and you can see the socket. if it's not quite touching one of the connections, try and bend the socket back into the right shape, but dont force it.
