Crooked Bridge on Squire VM Fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
I was doing a setup on my new Squire VM Fretless this week and noticed that the bridge is 1/16" off from one end to the other in relation to the routed rear edge of the bridge pickup. I like the bass and everything else looks good but this is discouraging. How hard is it to take off the bridge and fill in the holes and reset it straight? If I can do this, I would need someone who has one of these basses to measure the correct distance from the routed rear edge of the bridge pickup to the front of the bridge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a warranty issue to me. If it's new, that's the way I'd go.

If not, to make that small an adjustment you'd need to fill the existing holes....remove bridge, drill, install dowels in holes, level the surface, re-drill screw mounting holes. You wouldn't be able to install screws that close to existing screw holes.

I did remove the bridge and filled 2 of the holes with water putty. The stuff dries rock hard. I only needed to fill two of the holes. The other three still lined up even though I had to move the bridge back a 1/16". I think I can fix this myself. Thanks for the input!
