customising inlays

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok this is curiosity, is it possible to customise the inlays on a bass neck yourself? from one kind of dot too another? Im interested in abalone dots or another design of dots (any other kind of dot that u know of could you possibly get pictures on this thread for me?). If you can get them can you please let me know of the retailer and if you know how, how to replace the old dots? At the moment i have plain old mother of pearl dots bit boring...

Hmmmmm this just gave me an idea. Consider me subscribed.

Would an exacto knife, glue, and a lot of patience work I wonder?

Subscriber #2 here.

I'm looking at getting an unfinished Warmoth neck off the showcase and replacing the dots with abalone... I definitely want to hear about this.

I also want to get a custom inlay done on the headstock.
Any recommendations for buying a smallish (2" x 5" or so) abalone blank?
