CV 50's Pbass question

I've had this bad boy for a year or so now. Amazing quality for little price. However, the neck cracked when it fell out of my gig bag.
I was wondering if it is possible to replace the squier CV 50's pbass neck with a MIM fender pbass neck.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Fender-...item2c685ebe06 this one to be exact

I know it seems odd for a fender neck on a squier body.
Thanks!

It should fit. That's one of the things about Fender (and Squier) the parts are mostly interchangable.

All the best,

Bob

No bobster, it is not a perfect fit! The 50s P has a square heel. The Fender neck is rounded.

96tbird is right. You would need to find a neck made to fit a 50's Fender P-bass, not just any P-bass neck will do.

A curved-end neck (standard fender style) will fit just fine, there'll just be two small gaps in the corners of the neck pocket. The gaps wont effect tone or sustain or anything.

Or you could hunt down a square heeled neck.

Telecaster players sometimes put stratocaster necks on the tele bodies. Same deal as what you're asking about. Just 2 small gaps in the corners of the pocket.

The curved end neck goes in the straight pocket, leaving some gaps, as said above. You also get the non-Tele headstock, which is a drag on the looks.

I've been watching this item on the 'bay for a little while:

I have the VM Precision TB and this should go straight into the Classic Vibe. IIRC, this neck is less vintage looking with a very satin, untinted finish compared to the CV.

A few days ago, the seller dropped $15 off the price and still got no bites so you could try an offer...
