d string quieter than others?

Just bought a Peavey Millennium five string passive. D string seems quieter than surrounding strings. Am I crazy? Could it just need new strings? I think it's quiet when unplugged too so I am thinking its not electronic trouble. Just in case it is I would love to hear thoughts on string solution and electronic fixes. Thanks!

Definitely start with new strings. When you install them be sure to inspect your bridge and tuners and make sure you have a solid witness point where the string meets the bridge saddle and where it passes over the nut and slopes down towards the tuner.
