D-Tuner for CIJ Jazz Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everyone,
I wish to put a Hipshot extender on a CIJ Fender JB. I first thought the best match would be the BT-3. Then I questioned Hipshot and Jason answered the ''closest'' one would be a BT-7. Now I'm

So before I place an order (those things are quite expensive in Europe):
Do you have any experience in such surgery ? Could you help me select the real one ?

Here's a pic of the concerned headstock:

Thx

Please let me know if the BT7 works. Before they came out with that, I was told to use a BT1 but it did not work on my Japanese non-export Aerodyne. Well...it may have worked with drilling but I wasn't willing to do that. I'd really like to get a Detuner on that puppy though.. it's such a great bass and that'd make me play it more.

They certainly look like the keys that MIM basses have these days

What do they cost in Europe? I have one I was thinking of putting in the 'for sale' forum at a reasonable price.

I could post a pic of it, and of the Japanese J Bass I removed it from.

the CIJ necks I have worked with had a different sized tuning key hole - smaller than their MIA/MIM counter parts. because of this the standard keys would not fit

if Jason is noting that a particular set works on the CIJ, that would be all I needed to now about the fit ... the rest would be purely choice of cosmetics

all the best,

R

Smile Hang on a minute.

I think you were right in the first place Basstong. If you look real closely at your machine heads, you will see that they are the right match for the B3. It's confusing I know, I thought that the B3 would be ok for my Mexican Fender Deluxe J Bass but after a close comparison I noticed a difference, being a curve at the end of the back plate on the machine heads. Your back plates look similar but the ends have no curve. Therefore, your Japanese model should fit with the B3.
The B7 x-tender has a curve and will fit my Mexican.

Check it yourself to be happy.

Have a good one,
John.
