Dam saddles!

Ok, I have a Fender American Deluxe P-Bass and it is 99% original hardware.
The E string saddle keeps lowering itself over 1 hours worth of playing and its driving me nuts. I have thought about buying some new saddles, so what do you suggest? Any brands? Should I go for just the saddles or a whole bridge assembly?

just squirt a few drops of loctite(R) blue 242 on the threads of the 2 adjustment screws. that will keep the screws from backing out due to the vibrations.

I use my wife's clear nail polish for that.

Im thinking of getting some Graphtech saddles soon, but if I decide against it then I will go for the Loctite

+1. The classic solution.

Although I find the clear to be somewhat neutral in tone, I prefer using red nail polish as it adds a hotter tone to the saddles.

If you think red is hot, try coral pink...

Could try another set of bridge height screws, they may be machined slightly wider, maybe not. You can get a set for a few dollars, maybe worth a shot.

I'm always amused, that given the quick and effective (and cheap)
fix of nail polish or Loctite, so many bass owners feel the need to replace screws/saddles/bridges. Not in this particular case, I'm just sayin'...

I love these posts about bridge saddle adjustment screws vibrating lose. Unlikely the screws are bad but they're cheap. You could try replacing the single saddle. Far more likely the holes tapped oversize. Leave your wife/girlfriend's nail polish be. Loctite works great. Good luck.

Man I had the same problem on my MIM Roger Waters after just 3 months from buying it. I took it back to the shop so the luthier could check it out ( fender's luthier since it was on warranty ) and it turns out he changed the saddle's screws to some wider ones so to keep it from lowering and bottom line was that I couldn't adjust the height anymore because it was so damn tight that I bent the Allen screw... I ended up changing the whole bridge and problem sorted... My Nemesis is now Ashdown's totally unprofessional Costumer Service. I will start a thread about that...
