Alright, so my basses sit on stands in my living room. I was out of town for a few days, and when I get back and pick up Warwick 'vette, I see my dog has pissed on it. (No, I didn't leave the dog alone while I was gone. My gf was here, but she never touches my basses, so she didn't notice.)
Aside from some stickiness that wiped away pretty easily, the pick-up blend knob is almost impossible to turn. Is this fixable, or do I need to replace the knob (and possibly the dog)?

I tried just about every product known to man. Every time I pulled my Modulus out of it's case the neck smelled like pee. I finally had to throw the case away and buy a new one. Damn cat!
Oh by the way, the cat is now gone.

Man that really hurts. I haven't had a male dog for 12 years, just females - you forget about hazzards like that when you haven't had a male dog for a while.
Sorry for you troubles - hope you get fixed up okay.
Only thing I have had happen is my dauschand (SP?) crawled into my new bass case when I showed it to her - I think she thought I bought her a new dog bed. |

| | | Use Caig Deoxit to clean the pot. Spray into the slot at the base of the pot. Rotate the shaft back and forth twenty or thirty times. If that doesn't work and the shaft is frozen, you can try a penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench or WD 40 , rather than .40 S&W as previously noted. Follow up with Deoxit to clean and lube.
Failing that, replacing the pot is not difficult. |

If it's a purebred, it will gum up quicker than if it was a pound-hound. Mix hounds have thinner pee due too their genetic makeup and... (if you have read this far, you are bored at work.)
Seriously tho:
+1 on the deoxit, wrenches, etc. however, I think I'd just replace it.
Worst case, buy a new pot, keep the dog.
If you want karmic balance, pee on one of his rope toys, look at him with shrugged shoulders and say "What?!?..." |

I found out by picking up the bass (POS Squier) and realizing the wetness. I swear that dog had a smile on his face when I did it too. That dog had some personality. Ended up keeping him but soon replaced the bass with a 78 fretless P that I still have. Never thought I'd hear of a similar story. |

I'll leave my cases in the corner and use my gig bags to transport my basses around. When I go to use my cases I see dried urine stains all over the sides of them and then a yellow stain on the carpet. He's a pure bred border collie so his urine is pretty strong. It'll stink up a room.
We've gotten smart and picked up a few doggie diapers. We put a diaper on him every night and when we leave. It works as long as the diaper stays on him. He has a way to scoot it down just below his unit so he can continue to stain things.
