Danelectro Longhorn Binding

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a '99 Longhorn reissue from a friend recently. Fun little bass. The binding is starting to pull up where the neck joins the body. It's a natural U-shape, so I can see there'd be some stress there. It's currently only about an inch or so.

I think this is more or less expected with Danelectros at some point. Is it something to worry about? Is it worth trying to fix, or should I just live with it?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's where it usually pulls up from. You can use a hair dryer to soften the tape, allowing it to stretch a bit more, and add a little glue and press it in... I've used the hair dryer, (a few years ago now...), and it does allow the tape a little flexibility... It stuck pretty good for me without using the glue, but I can see it coming up again. If it really gets to bugging me, I'll probably go the glue route this time...
