Db-Ab-Db-Gb Tuning Thoughts

I used to tune in drop-d down one half-step before but the Db string always felt floppy. It always bothered me but it still had pretty decent tone and playability. It seemed to have some intonation issues as well where the Db would be Db open but not at the 12th fret. This was with a Stingray 4 string with Ernie Ball hybrids.

Can anyone give me some advice on this tuning with string sizes and brands to eliminate or mediate my issues and keep decent tension in the strings/neck? Thanks.

Yes. Something like a very heavy E (.115) or very light B (.120) should do you just fine.

Yes, its possible. Its actually common practice for metal band and such using drop C. I used to use drop C, and i'd always buy a set of 4 heavy strings and a set of 5 light strings, use the heavies for G C F, and the light fifth string for the low C. I'd imagine a similar approach would work for drop Db.
