Dead "B" string above 12 fret!?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello fellow TBīers, i recently buougt a hot-wire bass from germany, and itīs a great instrument, review is coming soon.

now to my problem, the "B" string on the bass sounds dead above the 12 fret, i thought that it might be the string hight, so i will try and correct it tomorrow.

if anyone else have any opinions or thought about what can couse the "dead" feeling feel free to coment.

the "dead" sound is kind of metallic like the string is laying against a fret or something!

Hey Oskar -

Is the string totally dead? No sound at all?

On my custom 6 the B sounded terrible past the 12th fret, until I realised the pickups were so strong they were pulling on the string and causing it to sound horrible: out of tune, weird overtones. Solved the problem by lowering the pickups until they no longer pulled on the string.

Hope that helps. Take care
