Dead machine head. How to tell the size to re order?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Mako bass from the 80's that I recently purchased and one of the machine heads is shot, i want to order this one online http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/B...eviews#reviews, but i dont know if its the right size.

So how do you tell the size or how do you measure it?

Please answer, this really sucks.

youre asking how to measure? Look at the stewmac diagrams...use a ruler, or calipers to find the matching dimensions on your machine head....

maybe im missing something

The diagrams will show you what parts of the machine heads to measure, and the values.

Hi.

Help us to help You by giving a pic or a link to the machine head that's broken.

Basically, the diameter of the hole in the headstock is the most important measurement as headstocks are roughly the same thickness.

Assuming the tuner in the link looks like the one you want to replace then, according to the blurb in the link:

..... 9/16"-diameter pegholes required. ......

you need to measure the diameter of the hole the tuning peg needs to fit through. If the diameter is 9/16", or even slightly larger, then it'll fit.
