I was having some minor fretbuzz problems on the 1st fret of the G string on my Peavey Cirrus with roundwound strings. This is the only place that had this problem. After putting flatwounds on it it's now so bad that the note won't even ring. Do I need to loosen the truss rod on my bass to fix this?

you can loosen the truss rod and see if it helps..it could also be a high second fret causing the problem

Only if the problem exists at the 1st thru the 6th or 7th fret. If it's ONLY at the first fret, the fret is low. Or possibly the 2nd fret is high.
