I need some help, my Epiphone Embassy has a dead spot on the second fret of the first string(F sharp). What do I do? |

I once bought a brand new MM Stingray and went the the trouble of replacing the pickup - still had the dead spot around the 5th fret on the G string, which I think is a common spot. So, I sold it. I now have several MM Sterlings with no dead spots.

| | | | Why? There must be something I can do, I mean I only bought it yesterday, and the dead spot only showed today. If I really have to sell, what do you think I could get for it? |

| | | | Fat Finger I thought, perhaps incorrectly that there was a product called Fat Finger that clipped on the headstock and altered the resonance of the neck in a such a way to get rid of dead spots? Anyone? |

id sell it, or, considering you bought it yesterday, you might be able to return it and get your money back, although that would depend on where you got it

| | | | Flea Market I got it in a flea market in Lexington, MO. So I can't return it, so I guess selling is still the definitive option, anybody got any estimates? The serial number on the back of the neck is... SJ05090387 and it's in perfect condition. |

| | | | Try different strings--heavier or lighter. Heavier strings worked for me.

| | | | Instructor I'll talk to my instructor tomorrow and see what he has to say, I'll tell him about the strings. Never thought of that! |

| | | | Fix Turns out it just needs new strings, the string in question had a lump at that fret, so it was the strings that did it. |
