Defretting, splinters around fret lol=/

Lol, so i decided to defret my squier, so i removed strings and started pulling at the end of the fret with a clipper and wow, it started going up, but now theres small splinters around where the fret used to be=/ Is this normal? will it be okay after? shud i do anything, and will it affect tone?

Gah, tried to do it slow and easy but it would just go slow first and then just woom and itd be out with full of splinters around=( damnit, btw, im going to use some kinda filling to fill the slots, u think thatd fill out the splinters too? Btw, as i cudnt stop doing it i now have 5 of these fretless slots but dont really care how it looks since its a squier=P btw, what do you define as "big chuncks"?

Are you heating the frets up before pulling them out?

Do as beav2k2 suggests, heating will losen the glue. Pull them out carefully, and dont worry about the splinters too much as logn as they are small. After you fill in the slots and sand the board they should go unnoticed. Another thing I'd recommen is that you keep the wood dust after sanding. You can mix the dust with acrylic (i.e. superbonder) and fill up the holes that eventually may be left from the splintering.

Ye i wasnt heating, but whats a good way to do that?

Use a soldering iron applied to the fret. This should heat the fret enough for any glue in the slot to loosen up. When the fret is really hot pull it out gently with some blunt nose pliers.
