Is there any wood missing? What kind of wood is it? Is it finished?

If its "just" a dent, you could try ironing it out. Use a damp towel over the area and use the iron to steam it out. Worked for me.

That's a right approach, but then again, if the neck is finished with lacquer of poly, you'd have to refinish that area.

Your right about needing to refinish. Also leaves room for a light sanding/000 steel wool of the entire neck I guess...

i thought about the old steam trick but yeah i decided against it coz the neck has a finish on it, though im not sure what it is. i guess ill just ignore it and no to the person who asked its not wood missing basically at a jam i had it resting on a chair and the guitarist moved the chair and my bass crashed onto the keyboard. its not a massive dent though just annoying haha
