Detuners

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi!

Is there any reason that I shouldn't put a detuner on both my E and B-strings on a fiver? Would this screw anything up, or is it OK? I don't see why not, but better safe than sorry. I'm no guitar tech...

The reason I want to do this, is that some bass parts are a b*tch to play (at least at my skill level, see signature: Mediocre Bassist club) without an open, low D...

Cheers

Just make sure the two detuner pegs clear one another.

^ That. It probably won't work. The E detuner lever will hit the B tuner body.

I have several 5 strings with a D tuner on the E string. Gotoh type. I just ground off and contoured the lever so it would miss the back of the B tuner.

I beleive that Hipshot will custom make a D-tuner lever to use in the E string position that is shaped to miss the back of the B tuner but it's been a long time since I talked to Dave.

The only prob I see is that in detuning two strings, there may be enough tension releived from the neck to get fret buzz.

Much obliged.

Suspected that it may mess with the neck relief, honestly hadn't thought about the lever hitting the next tuner though... That's why it's useful getting a second opinion.
