Digital Caliper is addictive

I bought a digital caliper at Lowes and I've been measuring everything (neck thickness, pickup height, neck relief, action, etc.). I have a fine ruler but there's no comparison. Based on all those numbers I've gotten, I'll probably re-set up all my basses.

The digitals are good - but they are a little fragile and you can definitely get them out of calibration much more so than a vernier-type.

I even bring out my vernier when I use a dial caliper too, just to check.

My dad was a NASA first-product inspector for a few places that did a lot of secret hush-hush stuff, and all the machinists there and the inspectors used the vernier type.

You won't be in numbers that critical, but I'd check one against another for reference once in a while.

Maybe buy a Jo-block to check it. Did your caliper come with a setting gauge? If so, use it often.
