I've always loved the look of bridges like those found on Dingwall basses (like the Lee Sklar, for example http://www.dingwallguitars.com/produ...ignature-bass/) where the whole bridge is comprised of individual saddles for each string. I understand that Dingwall's bridges are custom made, but what other companies make these types of bridges, if any, and where can I get one? Also, are these bridges string-thru compatible?
Thanks |

They're harder to install than a conventional bridge, because you have to get them all aligned properly. With a conventional bridge, once you've got it right, all the string saddles are right.
I don't know who makes them, however.
EDIT: Ibanez sells the bridges as replacement parts.

Anyone have any experience/knowledge regarding these? http://www.guitarpartscentral.com/in...ss-bridge.html

those are individual saddles mounted on a large bottom plate. Dingwalls use a base plate which the saddles are mounted to and the base plated gets attached at a few points to the body of the bass.
you can see the bass plate hole in this photo
and the installed plate and saddles
The mono rail idea is also quite good and Dingwall uses something similar on the Combustion line of basses |

that images comes from a thread on the Dingwall site demonstrating all the different pickguard color/combinations available for the Combustion bass.
So I assume- that Sheldon and crew- just kept swapping pickguards- its not photoshopped, and its not held on w/ screws |

Cutting the heads off screws and gluing them to the pickguards might have been the way to go. |

i was just makin the crack since I when I was just startin off in the geetar biz many moons ago doin finally assembly for a pretty high dollar brand and one time got quite the lecture after missing a pickguard screw on an instrument for a photoshoot. Of course noone noticed it until after the shoot. So I had to hear about it all over again after they had to pay somebody to edit the screw head into all the photos haha. |
