DiPinto Belvedere bridge mod

Sign in to disble this ad
I could use some feedback regarding my DiPinto Belvedere. First off, I love this bass. It is now my "go to bass". I had the guys at Bass Emporium in Austin take out the 3 way selector switch and rewire the pickups, so now the one vol knob controls both pick ups and as well as the one tone knob. reason i did this is because I always play up on the neck, and the 3 way switch was always in my way, *and* I always had it with both pick ups on at all times.

My next mod has its sights on the bridge. I really want nylon flatwounds on it, but they are too thick. Any ideas? Has anyone ever "filed" down the string spacing on these types of bridges? I'd rather avoid changing the bridge, but I am open to any feedback!

much thanks

Pictures would help--it's not clear to me what string spacing has to do with the strings being too thick. Or maybe those two statements were not related?

Hi,
Glad you like the bass!
nylon flats should fit on the those saddles but if the slots are too tight they can be filed out and buffed up with some 600 grit sand paper. I would suggest letting a luthier do it. I would be more concerned with the nut slots being too tight and cracking the nut with thick strings....
