Sign in to disble this ad
Hello
It's been at least a month now my bass is doing this weird distortion like sound.
I know it's not fret buzzing cause whenever I play it unplugged the sound does not occur, only when it's trough the amp. I tried another bass into the amp but the buzzing does not occur. I tried cleaning up the pick up (It's a MM sub bass) and still it did not work
any suggestion ?
thanks |

you could be overdriving your amp...does your amp have an "active" or "-15db pad" input? try that...
also, try putting a new battery in your bass...
physically cleaning a pickup will do nothing to improve the sound of your instrument.
also, eliminate the cable, too...however, cables don't generally cause "distortion" sounds, but they sure can cause humming... |

t think it does anything since when I change the volume or the EQ on my head nothing happens (assuming that the pre amp only takes the power of my amp) I did try to change cable, nothing. I also tried changing the battery. I don't know if the battery I tried had power but it still made that sound. No I do not leave my bass plugged in since it drains the battery's power?
thanks |

Perhaps your pickup height is incorrect?
| Would that be too low ? or too high? although when I did clean the pickup I guess I changed the height of it when I screw it back in? and it still does the sound. And how could it have start making that sound if the week before the pickup was at the same height ? |

Yes, leaving your bass plugged in leaves the preamp powered, draining the battery.

Your "none blanker" profile doesn't tell us what kind of bass it is by the way.
| Bleh fine, I will make a profile.. I just feel so out of place here since I'm a noob.. |
