Does Action effect intonation?

My action is a little too low fo rmy tastes on my bass - i want to raise it myself, but will intonation be thrown out of whack by adjusting action?

Yes it will. The higher you raise your strings, the more the string has to travel to reach the fret, in essence moving the point where the fret meets the string. So, after raising your action, you will have to readjust your intonation.
