Does a BadAss III bridge fit a 51 P Reissue?

This question has probably been asked before, but I did several searches and couldn't find it.

Anyway... I have heard that the Fender USA standard bridge is a direct swap (no mods or drilling) on the CIJ 51 Precision Reissues. Does anyone know if this is true?

If so, the BadAss III should also be a direct swap. This is good news for me because I've always been a fan of Tele Basses, but I've never bought one because I've always hated that 2-saddle bridge.

Can someone confirm or deny this? Thanks.

In my experience, it is.

One would think so.

There are low mass replacement bridges, some from Fender, which can replace the two-saddle bridge. I personally wouldn't want a high-mass bridge on a single coil p-bass.

If you want a vintage tele tyle bridge, ehere you go.

Now...if you want that retro vibe but want high mass and strings through...I hink you'd have to rout the body and get a custom made anchor plate...kind of like warwick bridges...extra points for metal countersinks to grip into the wood even more.

good luck...post photos.

(I'm assuming your issue with 2 saddle bridges is in set up)

yes, the BA3 is a direct fit bridge..I had one on my 51 R.I and it worked awsome but the vintage vibe is gone.

You're right... a BadAss is not very retro. An American Standard bridge might be a better choice. Its got four saddles, but still looks inconspicuous. I guess I just wanted to make sure the holes would line up. Thanks for the responses guys.
