Drill into Hollowbody?

I have an Ibanez AFB200 and love it. The only problem is that I would like to have a thumb rest on it for both comfort and better maneuverability. The AFB200 is a full hollowbody, and getting a thumb rest may require drilling holes into it. Would anyone recommend this or are there any alternatives to this? Would drilling holes into it ruin it? Thanks.

Screwing a thumb rest to the body won't ruin it, but unless it's done correctly, it will affect whatever resale value you hope to maintain. Most people would offer the good advise to get over your need for one in the first place.
All that said, you will find that there's a bit more to it than just screwing some sort of block to the body. Because the body is an archtop, you will have to fit the thumb rest to where you want it to sit on the body for it to sit properly. The bottom of the rest should match the shape of the body at the point where it's mounted.

Double-stick tape, or attaching a mount to the pickup surround? Roger at Jeannie's worked something like this up for the Lakland hollowbodies.

Stick it on with trim tape.
