I dropped my epiphone eb 3 bass because I had a worn strap and no strap locks. It fell string side down. There is apparent no damage. But I am concerned that there might be some other kind of damage. what do I check for and how do I the repairs?

Check it carefully with your eyes, then play it and run it through scales and numbers you are familiar with. If you find no damage and it still plays OK, you have no problem. This is not "rocket surgery".

Yes.

Ouch, though. Hate to hear that.

Besides the finish, tuners, etc. - you should also check the tension on the truss rod. I've seen a few broken truss rods that were a little too tight and snapped when an instrument got dropped.

+1 for Pilgrim. If it plays and sounds ok YOUR GOOD TO GO. Truss rod only needs to be checked/adjusted if there is a playing issue. Any physical damage is just mojo giving your axe some soul.
