Dual Action Truss Rod problems

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Everyone,

To my knowledge all peavey cirrus basses have dual action truss rods, I am having trouble getting enough relief in the neck as the nut in the truss rod will screw out.

It's not terrible but results in a bit of string rattle.

I was wondering if anyone had similar problems with their bass/ cirrus. Someone suggested getting the fretboard taken off and have the truss rod set to the middle but I really want to avoid anything that could warp the fret board.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Did the trussrod nut actually come out or just feel loose?
I had to have the dual action trussrod explained to me when I got my Cirrus (thanks Vic). I thought my trussrod was broken until vic explained it to me.

Not sure if I'll explain this right but there will actually be a spot where the nut will feel loose in between adding frontbow or backbow. The way I think this was explained to me was, even without strings on the bass you can cause a forward bow (or backbow for that matter)with the Dual expanding truss rod. At the spot in the middle where you are not causing the neck to bow (either way) the nut will feel loose. If I'm way off with my advice I apologize. Also if you feel uncomfortable with doing the adjustments, it's always best to take it to a pro.
