dunlop lemon oil on unfinished maple?

Sign in to disble this ad
The instructions on the bottle say only use on rosewood fretboard, not on maple. But I heard it is due to most maple necks have a lacquered finish and the lemon oil might damage it.

How about an unfinished stingray maple fretboard? Is it safe to use?

stingrays use a gunstock oil kind of finish. keep the lemon oil off of there (it'll just smear around, anyway) and follow ernie ball's recommendations for neck maintenance.

I was wondering about this, and talking to a friend who plays an un-finished neck, DO NOT USE LEMON OIL ON IT. WHATEVER YOU DO.
