E string buzzing up to 8th/9th fret

Hey everyone - got a bit of a tricky one but I'm sure someone can put me in the right direction.
I usually do my own setups, and although I am nowhere near a pro I am happy to adjust saddles, truss rods, shim necks etc. myself.
I recently purchased a Frank Bello sig Fender. I have the bass set up with just a tad of relief. I get a good low action on the A, D and G strings, however with the E string set to a similar height as the other string there is an annoying rattle/buzz from the 1st to about the 8th/9th fret. I could raise the string a little but I dont understand why this one string would have the problem and not the other. It does effect the tone and sustain a little.
Any ideas appreciated, and I admit it may need to go to a pro!

What's your definition of a "tad of relief"? When in doubt, .012" is a good starting place. Also, check for string / fret gap at the 1st fret while fretted at the third (looking for back-buzz). What's the E string height at the 12th fret?

Add relief, set the E string saddle higher.

+1 to the above. However, you may have a high fret- 8 or 9. Easy to fix if you know what you're doing.
