EADGC; Nut replacement?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been tuning my bass E to C without changing the stock nut. I want lower action and haven't been able to get it no matter how low I bring the saddles. Is getting the nut replaced or adjusted to compensate this tuning the proper fix?

You have no idea how his truss rod is already set!

Robertron, you should seriously consider bringing it to a professional technician to get checked out. You may need a nut slot adjustment and possibly a shim. Nobody here can help you unless we know exactly what is up with the bass, and even then, you're best off with a knowledgable pro who can actually look at your instrument.
