Easiest way to change string spacing on a Squier CV P.

Sign in to disble this ad
I would like to have more adjustment over the string spacing and was wondering what the easiest way to do this.
The Bass has a High mass bridge and i believe no 3rd party replacement bridge will have holes that line up with the originals.

Does anyone know if its possible to get grooved saddles like on the MIA bridges?

Has anyone actually changed the bridge on a CV bass?

Thanks for any help.

Hipshot A style bridges allow for some string spaceing adjustment. It doesnt matter if the stock bridges holes all line up with a replacement bridges screw holes. Simply plug any that dont and do new starter holes for the other bridge holes on new bridge.

you could just get the vintage-style threaded rod saddles, which allow for finer spacing adjustment than the newer american standard versions.

That's what I was thinking, but I have no idea what ones would fit the squier bridge.
It's something I'll have to look in to.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I must admit im not great with wood so im trying to avoid making a mess of my bass. I expect i could drill a few holes if i had to to though.

well as i expected the saddles aren't wide enough to allow the legs to sit in the grooves on the baseplate.
I wonder why Squier decided to supply a non fender standard bridge.

So, i guess ill get a vintage bridge and have to get my drill out.

Cause peeps have been upgrading the thin stock fender bridges with higher mass ones since the 70's and fender finally decided to make upgraded fender bridges to better satisfy customers. Same reason fenders gone to wider frets of late.

Yes but surely it would have been cheaper for squier to use off the shelf standard fit bridges rather than their own non standard one.

Not a bit deal though, it's a nice bridge.
