Eb tuning a bad idea with bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Have had my bass tuned to Eb to better work with my singing key, and have kept it that way after joining a band that uses standard tuning. With the longer and thicker strings, does this affect a bass more? Does it lose the coveted punchiness? Appreciate anyone's experiences or thoughts on the matter.

Its totally fine. You probably can even get away with not having it set up for the Eb tuning but i would suggest getting it set up by a pro.

It does affect your bass but depending on your bass's neck stability and what kind of woods it's made of, the effects should be negligible. Might have to check the intonation and make a few adjustments at the bridge but other than that it shouldn't be a big deal.
