EB0 / EB3 Project

I’ve got an Epi EB0 and while it looks good it doesn’t sound great –

As it’s a cheapie I’m going to mod it……

The bridge looks seriously dodgy to me and I’ve read about it pulling out? Can anyone recommend a replacement bridge?? I’m not an amateur guitar bodger and can play with electrics all day but I’ve never really looked into different bridges?

What are the difficulties in changing the bridge?

cheers

Sorry to be so late replying , however I would keep the original bridge firstly because it would be a shame to spoil the vintage look of the bass and secondly because its going to be a tough job finding a replacement to fit other than a Gibson bridge (which are virtually the same). These bridges do occasionally lift away from the body (happened to a flying v i owned) , however its easy to fix , you remove the bridge and use a hammer to knock the part back in (the part that holds the bridge pin). If you dont like the sound , it might be worth swapping the pickup for a dimarzio model one to improve sound , also I will hopefully be aquiring an Epi eb0 , what did you not like about the sound?

I have an Epi EB-0 and I'm not sure what you find lacking with it. So far it sounds pretty darn good to me.

If you adjust the bridge properly, you shouldn't have problems with it.

If you want to mod, either consider the Dimarzio replacement pickup, or you could turn it into an EB-3 of sorts by adding a neck pickup and another pot for volume. You'd probably have to settle for one tone pot, but I think there's room for one more pot in that factory body cavity.
