Ebay Jazz bass body

Sign in to disble this ad
I ordered one of these last week from a seller called timbo81 and just received it today.

Replacement Bass Body | eBay

Paid $99 with free shipping and he even routed space for a battery box for free. ( Excellent and quick communication) Very impressed with the quality for this price. Ordered it in ash and it's quite a beautiful piece.

Haven't tried to fit a neck into the pocket yet but will later this week. Was a bit unsure of what I was going to get d/t the feedback rating. Will put up some pics if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Well spoke a bit too soon.

While the body looks great the neck pocket was a bit small. Had to enlarge it a bit. Also, fitting a jazz pickguard on revealed a weirdly shaped lower horn and the holes for the bridge are drilled about 1/4" too far back. Nothing I can't fix but it's not exactly ready to finish and slap together.

Still for the price its a good body and I like to tweak this stuff anyway.

A useful review- thanks. You might let the seller know about the issues- if you haven't. He may actually want to improve.

I'm really curious about this one:

Bass Guitar Body | eBay

it would be nice with a MM pickup!

Thanks for the review, as an international buyer it's really helpful!

I actually see this as a plus. Rather this than the pocket being to big. Otherwise looks very nice !

Yeah I know what you are saying. Certainly better than too big.

I am going to redrill the bridge holes tonight and put this together. Then snap some pics.

Bass sounds awesome. Growls like a beast. Three coats of spray can nitro.

Lots of tweaking had to be done, and still does but I love to fool with this stuff anyway. Just so people reading this know you are not going to bolt this up right out of the box. Also despite being ash this body is not lightweight (6.5lbs) but this bass has excellent tone so I could care less.

Verrrry nice. But.... has the nitro cured already ? And won`t the foam on that stand eat the finish ?

I note that the original auction says:

"Important Notes: (CHECK YOUR NECKS! Not all Fender or Fender licensed products are made to the same specs. Some sanding may be necessary)"

However, you found some additional items. Still, for $99 sounds like a good value as long as one is ready to fine-tune the assembly.

THanks. I sprayed it last night and my guess as to if it has cured would be no. Don't see any marks on it though. If it does mar I will steel wool it and shoot it again, or maybe not...

Future Road Worn bass in the making.

I bought the body from a previous auction. The seller relisted these bodies and since added the neck statement and a shipping charge. He must have got some complaints.

Personally I think it was an awesome deal. I contacted the seller initially and he answered within minutes. He routed the battery box for free and shipped it the day after.

I have about $800 into this bass and to tell the truth, it is the best sounding Jazz I have ever played.

I've been back and forth with him for a couple weeks now getting a j body with a p/j pup set cut. He's doing it to order (3 hole bridge mount, battery box, etc) and as soon as I send him the final layout, chips will fly.

He does custom routes? Sweet, I gotta pick his brain.

He also does some pretty sweet tops. Depending, he usually has a few nice examples of bookmatch/exotic topped guitar bodies up on ebay.

I sent him a message via eBay last night, let's see if he gets back to me. If not, this crazy idea of mine is gonna get a lot more expensive.

I'm right in a middle of a Jazz build.

I ordered my body from Musikraft in NJ. Their bodies start at $175 for Ash or Alder.

This is my second Musikraft body. My first was a Tele that came out awesome. This time I specified that I wanted a 2 pc Swamp Ash body between 4.5 to 5.0 pounds, with no knots and string holes. The cost came out to $275.

The body came in at 4.8 pounds.

Here are a couple of pics. I'll write this up as I progress more on the project. Right now, the body is at Guitar Mill in TN to be shot Honeyburst.

I'm just say'n that for an extra $75, Musikraft is a great option, and you wont have to worry about neck pockets fitting. Both neck pockets in my Musikraft bodies were spot on snug.
