Ebony or Epoxy

Can someone post the sound difference between an Ebony finger board and an epoxied fingerboard? Because I have a MIM fretless Jazz bass, and I'm looking to do something to the fingerboard to make it harder, it's rosewood right now. The rosewood is too soft for some of the slapping that I'm doing on it. Much help would be appreciated.

Not sure this belongs in the Recordings forum, but...

I've got a Yamaha TRB5 with a rosewood fingerboard that sounds great slapped. The video for "Underthe Bridge" (which I just happened to see again the other day) shows Flea playing a 'ray with a rosewood board. In fact, lots of guys slap on rosewood boards.

Are you sure the problem is the board? What's happening, exactly?

Yeah. On a fretted bass I don't mind at all, it's a fretless problem tho.
