I want to buy this bridge, but I don't know if it's worth it. Has anybody bought one?

The bottom looks thick. Might be an issue with string height. Got dimensions?

Looks like a direct Fender five screw drop in. That's what BPR says on their site. I think it'll work fine. It is cast metal, not milled brass which is fine on a budget.

The reason why I'm thinking about getting it is because it has grooves for the saddle screws which would help me out tremendously, and it looks to be high mass, which I don't really care about, but whatever. I also would like to know if it would fit under a Jazz bridge cover. It it doesn't, I'm not getting it.

Here's a solution to the wandering saddle problem that will fit under a cover and costs even less.

Fender Highway one bridge saddles. Find 'em here.

If it's cheap you are looking for, this should do the trick.

I had the same bridge in black that I purchased here.
BLACK ECONOMY BASS BRIDGE FOR FENDER® P JAZZ BASS | eBay

I was very happy with it.

I parted the bass and sold the bridge and the new owner said he was very happy too.

It fits perfect for a fender style 5 screw mount. It is alot better quality then you would think from looking at the photo and the price. I say go for it.

It looks exactly like the Gotoh 201.

Yes. I have that bridge on all three basses. Great bridge for the money!

It gives you the ability to move your outside strings just an RCH further out and the resulting inward pushing tension keeps all the saddles mashed up nice and tight against each other. I had problems with my saddles sliding about on my MIM jazz with the single string saddle slot but I also owned a deluxe P with the threaded saddles and the saddles stayed put.

And a bridge cover will fit right over them.

Ok... I have been putting off buying the thing, but it seems GAS is getting the best of me...

How does this bridge sound compared to the standard Fender bridge?

I found a similar bridge for 19.00 shipped on ebay. It's an Allparts and should arrive this week.

Looks almost identical to the hi-mass bridge on my Jazz Bass. It should be fine for that price range.

I was just browsing through BPR, and I came across this again. Forgot all about it.

Hope the string spacing is dead on, with this new bridge that you insist on buying, or you'll be one unhappy camper. Add to that the very real possibility that it won't fit under the bridge cover, and you may well find yourself wishing that you'd bought the threaded saddles--the real fix for your problem--instead.

I've been playing without the covers. I used to like them, but I'm not sure what happened. I changed strings, and was anxious to play, so I played the bass before I put the covers back on, and just decided to leave them off.

I'm buying the Hwy 1 threaded saddles as well as the bridge.

It won't sound any different at all (unless your current bridge is defective and negatively affecting your sound now).
