| | | I don't really like the look of it. That super thick back section just looks odd to me...
For cheap bass bridges I'd go with something here: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Bass-Gui...ges_c_151.html
Also check the OEM wholesale section on that website. Some good deals there!
I'm sure that bridge that you have pictured will function just as well as any bridge, though. So if you like the look of it, go for it. Don't expect a change in sound, though.

If you're interested in a slightly brighter tone, this bridge should work fine.
I do think you'll need to shim the neck with this or any thick-base bridge.
All the best,
Bob

| | | | doubtful.
if you already have a working bridge on the squier, you'd likely see more return spending your money on something else, pickups maybe.

| | | | which squier do you have? some of the newer ones have bridges that are probably better than this one anyway.

something heavier would maybe look cooler, and if it was more stable (no drifting or rattling) that could be considered an improvement.
(of course a few drops of loc-tite would fix any drifting or rattling, too.)

This would be put in the threads of the saddle adjustment screws.

| | | | looks cool, and you might hear a tonal difference, but that bridge has zero, zero impact on the way the bass plays or intonates.
that's only affected by how it's adjusted, just like with the old bridge.
