Hi guys.
I have two basses with the same issue, each with different electronics. I have tried the usual suspects- strings and pickup heights, cables and EQ but these factors don't give me any good results.
The E string on my Gibson Ripper and G3 just seem dead.
The G3 is a relatively new fault, and has required new pots for some time - I just find it strange the other 3 strings sound great regardless of the pot settings. Could it be a capacitor? The pickups are Lane Poor bars (see:
http://www.flyguitars.com/graphics/1...gloss-G3-3.jpg) so I wouldn't think there could be an alignment problem?
The Ripper has had it since I got it - it came with the original flatwounds so I put it down to the strings - altho in the past few months it has became considerably worse after trying several sets of strings (the pic below will probably explain the issue), as far as I can see the bridge is sitting fine, and moving the pickup would only then mean the G string wouldn't be aligned correctly...
Any thoughts? Would a new nut on the Ripper solve this?
Cheers for reading
