Hey!
Whats going on everybody? Okay... gig last weekend. Got honked and threw the bass.
What would you do about a 6inch wide hole on the side of a bass where the out jack is? The electronics still work... but are entirely exposed and the cable jack is dangling!
Let me know!

Duct tape was the correct answer. |

Marine epoxy would work. The stuff can be sanded, painted, etc.

What would you do about a 6inch wide hole on the side of a bass where the out jack is? | two part answer is in order here:
* address the root of the absent self control problem first. dude, you need to get some counseling before you do some real damage to someone and they fold you in half in the back alley (or something even worse)
* if the bass isn't malfunctioning, leave it as is so you have a visual reminder that some serious lifestyle changes need to take place before your bass throwing activities (and other similar antics) result in someone else getting seriously injured
all the best,

I haven't seen a solid-body this could have happened to. If hollow-body, my guess is that you must repair it or it will eventually come apart. If solid-body, it will be much easier to repair.
Long-term: more care in handling your instrument.
Short-term: disassemble bass, rout or otherwise clean out hole to get a repairable cavity, carefully build wood block to repair hole, refinish the body, re-assemble. This exercise will be an excellent reminder why you never want to do this again. If it's a hollow-body, take it to a luthier and pay the multiple hundreds of dollars required for him to do the repair. |

You need one of those bubbles to stand in while you play your bass. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
